Sleighrides

A Family Tradition

Horse-drawn sleighs have been a tradition at Merrylynd farms since the land was first settled in 1825. Outdoor winter excursions are available and highly personalized to suit your needs.  We can accommodate small groups.

You can book a moonlit cutter ride for up to eight people, or book a group of up to 100 people.  We offer outdoor campfires, ice-skating and broom-ball, tobogganing along with farm tours to better understand traditional food production in Ontario.

Cancellations due to bad weather can be made early morning the day of the ride, without penalty (we cannot be held responsible for mother nature).

Learn Something New

Sleigh rides are a fun and educational way for children to get outdoors and experience the working life of an Ontario family farm. Groups of up to 100 and all ages of children are welcome. The children are asked to bring their own skates and toboggans.
We have a great toboganning hill. Please bring enough adults to supervise both the toboganning hill as well as skating area.

Tours generally take 2-3 hours, starting usually between 10-11 AM. Please ensure the children wear warm clothing. Hay bales are placed around the skating/hot chocolate area for children and adults to sit. You can arrange to cook your own hotdogs on a propane barbeque, or we can sell cooked hotdogs individually to your group members. There is an outdoor toilet at the site.

Climbing your toboggan hill, going for sleigh rides, skating on the ponds and drinking hot chocolate made for a perfect day! I thought that it was very nice of you to take the time to give everybody sleigh rides throughout the day and even teach some of the kids how to drive the team of Belgian Horses.
